Check out this super cool fact:
Pound for pound, your bones are 4x stronger than concrete. WOW!
That's pretty darn strong and honestly, we like it that way because life invites us to show up and participate every single day. And for that, we need strong bones. And to get strong bones we need to do weight-bearing exercises.
Lucky for you (and me), it's pretty easy to make this a part of your daily routine because weight-bearing exercises include simple activities like walking, hiking, jogging, climbing stairs, playing tennis, and dancing. Simply put, weight-bearing exercises are movements that force you to work against gravity. They make your feet strike the ground. And that makes your bones stronger.
If you're looking for more ways to increase your bone strength you can consider adding resistance training 2-3x per week, but start slowly and seek help from a personal trainer to learn proper form. Remember the phrase, "Learn before you load."
But for today, let's commit to moving more, striking the ground more often, and strengthening our bones one step at a time.
